We are looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) to drive lead research, qualification, and conversion optimization by engaging potential customers, gathering insights, and routing them effectively within Formations.
The Role
This BDR role is unique—it’s not just about booking meetings. You will play a crucial role in understanding why leads drop off, refining the customer journey, and improving the overall conversion funnel. Your work will directly shape the Head of Sales at Formations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Engagement & Qualification:
- Contact leads who have submitted information but have not converted.
- Determine whether they are a fit for self-serve onboarding or should speak with a Formations sales specialist.
- Conduct structured discovery calls to uncover friction points in the signup process.
- Data-Driven Research & Optimization:
- Identify common objections, usability challenges, or misunderstandings that prevent conversion.
- Log feedback in HubSpot to identify trends.
- Work closely with the Head of Sales to refine messaging, onboarding flow, and automation based on insights.
- Conversion-Focused Outreach & Follow-Up:
- Test re-engagement strategies for leads who previously dropped off.
- Test different talk tracks, emails, and automated sequences to improve conversion rates.
- Provide structured feedback to continuously improve both self-serve and assisted sales pathways.
- Lead Routing & CRM Management:
- Ensure that high-value leads who do not convert through self-serve are routed to Formations sales reps.
- Maintain detailed tracking and reporting of lead interactions and status in CRM.
What We’re Looking For
- 1+ years of experience in sales, business development, customer research, or lead qualification (B2B or B2C preferred).
- Strong phone and email communication skills—confident, clear, and persuasive.
- Analytical mindset—ability to spot patterns in data, track trends, and refine outreach based on findings.
- Curious & Coachable—eager to learn, take feedback, and iterate quickly.
- Tech-savvy—comfortable using CRM tools and sales automation platforms.
- Passion for helping self-employed professionals and small business owners succeed.
Bonus Points If You:
Have experience in fintech, SaaS, or selling to self-employed professionals.
Compensation range $50-75K
