Formations is developing the first comprehensive product to automate business incorporation, expense tracking, payroll, and benefit allocations. With our technology and team of financial experts by their side, self-employed professionals will have the playbook and tools needed to focus on growing their business while saving thousands on annual taxes, achieving financial well-being, and securing their futures through better financial decision making.

To better service our small business customers, we are looking for a Senior Accounting Expert to join our Professional Services team. The right candidate will be looking to offer their skills by helping with both internal and external accounting education, creating, managing, and implementing accounting solutions, answering accounting and tax questions, sharing their knowledge and experience with our team and our customers, and providing our small business clients with exceptional care and quality experiences.

At Formations, we are focused on a holistic approach to manage self-employed businesses and convert them from sole proprietorships to S corporations to leverage the tax advantages of that type of entity. We aim to be the solution for tax and accounting for the small businesses who are woefully underserved in these areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer facing role as a senior advisor around accounting best practices
  • Work in tandem with lead CSMs to own and manage a book of business
  • Create and deliver continuing education to our team
  • Help develop processes and polices for customers and our bookkeeping team
  • Review and understand financial statements and tax documentation and use the information to drive solutions for customers
  • Work as part of a cross-functional company, partnering with Customer Success Managers and Fulfillment to help drive project completion
  • Ability to coordinate and accomplish tasks with remote professionals and team members

Qualifications:

  • You have 5-10+ years of accounting experience with Strong bookkeeping skills and the ability to clean books fast.
  • Payroll experience – understanding taxes (state & federal) and have experience processing payroll
  • You have multi-state experience around accounting rule, regulations, and compliance
  • You have excellent communication skills, verbal and written and can easily translate technical concepts into simple terms for internal purposes and external customer discussion.
  • You are a strong team player that can step and provide support wherever needed
  • You have knowledge of accounting theory and practices
  • You are skilled with technology and working in a remote environment
  • You are able to adapt in a quickly growing and changing company with multiple priorities
  • You have experience with Gusto and/or Xero (or QBO)

Nice to have:

  • You have worked at an early startup preferably as an accountant or controller
  • S-Corp knowledge and experience


Salary range : 100K-120K
